We cannot go back to the “old normal” of racist murders, polluted air and water, people in cages and low-paying jobs for communities of color. We need to build something better than before.
- Justice: Our criminal justice system inflicts violence on Black and Brown communities while failing to reduce crime. We are working on bipartisan legislation to demilitarize and reform policing, while amplifying the voices of Black and Brown communities who note that policing reform is just the start. We aim to eliminate our reliance on incarceration and reinvest resources into effective community solutions that reduce crime and recidivism.
- Legislation: In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are mobilizing a national, diverse coalition of organizations and lawmakers to fund safe and reliable public transit, broadband for all, and urgent help for currently and formerly incarcerated people. We need legislative solutions that deliver real help to our communities. Black, Brown, and low-income people have been hit first and worst by the pandemic and rising unemployment — it's critical that these communities are not benefitting last and least from any recovery legislation Congress passes.
