The Family Preservation Project, in collaboration with Dream Corps JUSTICE, invites you to join us for Oregon’s 2nd Annual Day of Empathy.

We invite you to join us in imagining a world without prisons; a world that centers care and not punishment in addressing harm.

What would this look like? Feel like? What is possible for our lives and our communities?

We aim to amplify the voices of those with firsthand knowledge and experience of the criminal punishment system, with an emphasis on empathy and humanizing. Our goal is to share our experiences, strength and hope, while offering tangible visions of what could have been different, and what still can be, in our movement toward repairing harm and healing communities.

We will explore this topic through art with Viva La Free, theater with Open Hearts, Open Minds, poetry by Jasietheauthor, music by Colin Meloy of The Decemberists, and conversation with mothers who have been directly impacted by the criminal punishment system and filmmaker, Brian Lindstrom.

We are especially honored to be joined by writer, embodiment facilitator, political organizer, therapist, Founder and Director of the Embodiment Institute, Black Embodiment Initiative, and host of the acclaimed podcast, “Finding Our Way”, Prentis Hemphill.
