Day of Empathy 2020

Without empathy, we cannot achieve the meaningful policy changes that keep our communities safe, our families whole, and our economy strong. That's why on March 25th 2020, we will gather for the fourth annual Day of Empathy.

There are thousands of people – mothers, fathers, children, and community members – who have stories to tell. The Day of Empathy is an opportunity to shine light on people impacted by the criminal justice system in order to uplift and amplify their voices, and win over hearts and minds towards the idea that transformation is possible.

If you or a loved one is system impacted (or if you're a non-impacted ally!), join us for this year's Day of Empathy.

When: Wednesday, March 25th, 9:00 a.m.

Join Safe & Just Michigan as we host the Michigan Day of Empathy 2020 on Wednesday, March 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church, 215 N. Capitol Ave. in Lansing, across the street from the state Capitol. The Day of Empathy is your chance to share your stories and experiences of how our criminal justice system has become too big and too unfair, rather than effective, safe and healing. We'll be providing breakfast and lunch for participants, and there will be opportunities to meet with state lawmakers who have the ability to make significant and lasting change to our criminal justice system. They need to get to know you and hear your stories.
