We all make mistakes, but in America's current criminal justice system, one mistake could ruin your life and leave you without a chance at redemption.

At every turn, those who have a criminal record are denied a second opportunity to get their lives on track, even after they have served their time for a past crime.

Take Kentucky, for example. In our state, people with a criminal history are excluded from ever accessing scholarship money provided by the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship, also known as KEES, because of a past conviction. KEES has been a crucial tool in providing much-needed funds to Kentucky students to pursue higher education. The fact that some can't access it due to a past mistake isn't right.

It's time to give an opportunity at higher education to all Kentuckians, regardless of their history. Sign Dream Corps JUSTICE’s petition and ask the Kentucky Legislature to expand KEES to those with past convictions.
